Frequently Asked Questions!
Question: Where is the Incredible Milking Cow manufactured?
Answer: She is made in the USA by American workers...from the cow's designer, to the workers in the fiberglass plant, to the artist who paints them, to the mechanic who puts them together, to the electrician who creates the electronic package....everyone!
Question: Can I order a breed other than a Holstein?
Answer: Yes. The fiberglass form will be the same but our artist has painted the following breeds: Jersey, Guernsey, Milking Shorthorn and Ayrshire. Some of these are pictured on the PHOTOS page.
Question: Are custom colors available?
Answer: The colors available are limited only by your imagination! We have made purple cows with black spots, a white cow with blue spots, cream colored cows with black spots.
Our standard base is the green "grass-like" base. By request, we've done bases to look like hay (maize/brown) and dirt!
Question: Can the Milking Cow be left outside?
Answer: Yes, it is built to be displayed in or outside. The paint is coated with a clear finish - just like your car! However, common sense dictates that it not be left out in inclement weather, or in standing water. Remember that the electronics are located in the base.
If you are moving the Milking Cow in the back of a pickup truck or other non-protected vehicle during inclement weather, be sure to remove the electronic board first.
Question: Can I put straw, hay or grain on the base?
Answer: Some venues do but we don't recommend it as, without supervision, children may put items like these into the pail! Even though there is a custom screen below the simulated milk pad, these types of things could clog the pump and cause it to stop working.
Question: Can you give examples of the what the Milking Cow has to say?
Answer: Our Milking Cow is more than just good looking! She is intended to be another resource for education about dairy. BTW, in between facts about cows, the Milking Cow MOOs. Examples:
"I have quite an appetite. I eat 40 pounds of food every day…and then I wash it down with about a bathtub full of water!"
"I bet you didn’t know that the very first cow in America arrived before the Mayflower did! Yes, one of my ancestors arrived in the Jamestown colony in 1611."
"Did you know that cows were very important when people started moooooving to America? In fact, until the 1850's, nearly every family had its own cow. People had fresh milk every day….and they made their own butter and cheeses too."
"In the old days, farmers could milk about only 6 cows an hour. Then milking machines were invented in 1894. Now farmers use machines to milk more than 100 per cows per hour."
Question: What do we have to do to winterize the Milking Cow?
Answer: If you live in a cold climate, you must winterize your cow by draining all the water out of the holding tank and pail and adding camper-type antifreeze. More precise directions are in the operating manual that comes with each Milking Cow.
Question: Can we order parts, like extra teats?
Answer: Yes. We keep parts like the teats, pump and "milk" pad in stock. Parts like the udder plate are made to order. Virtually all removable parts can be replaced. Call us at 603-387-3921...or email marquis2@roadrunner.com
Question: Can any teats we find online work with our Milking Cow?
Answer: No. The teats we supply are the ones that work best with the special fittings on the udder. Other types will likely be loose and easily pulled out.
Question: Where is the electric outlet located?
Answer: It is on the right side of the Milking Cow. While the outlet area is part of the fiberglass mold, we can - as a special order - relocate the cord.
Question: Can I add artwork to acknowledge our Sponsor?
Answer: Yes. If it is a Company logo, you need only send us the ready artwork (vector or .pdf files) and we'll take it from there. We can put it on the base or as a brand on the Milking Cow's hind quarter. There may be an additional charge, depending on the artwork requirements. See examples below:
